BACKFORTH ART EXHIBITION
Colombia has positioned in international currents of art through contemporary art practices. Drawing, for example, is one of the artistic expressions that have strengthened the most in the visual arts scene of Colombia in recent years. In 2012,Colombian artists participated in the most outstanding international scenarios, such as the Sao Paulo Biennale, The Drawing Center of New York, and the international philanthropic program Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative.
Considering the rise that this medium has taken, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs intends to replicate the project BACKFORTH, developed in past years by the Colombian artist Jose Antonio Suárez Londoño. Entitled with the same name, in this case, the project will lead to some sort of visual dialogue between Colombian and foreign artists. Through this methodology each artist will work, simultaneously to its counterpart, in the production of a series of drawing on the same words or subjects.
Through this project, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will lead to a cultural exchange between Colombia and Asia Pacific countries, strengthening the cultural bonds and raising the awareness of one of the most outstanding expression of the artistic scenario of Colombia.
